2024 Person of the Year

Gabe Amo

Gabe.jpg

At a young age, Gabe Amo understood the meaning of hard work, for his parents lead by example. After his parents immigrated to Rhode Island from Ghana and Liberia respectively, Gabe was born and raised in Pawtucket and when not in school, would help his father at the family liquor store, while his mother worked as a nurse. At a young age Gabe was drawn to politics and joined the student senate while attending Moses Brown where he soon began receiving awards – and as they say, ‘that was just the beginning’…. In September 2023, in an upset, Amo won the Democratic primary to become the party's nominee for Rhode Island's 1st congressional district - winning the election, becoming the first person of color elected to represent Rhode Island in Congress. Won't you come celebrate with us as the Pawtucket Hall of Fame Committee honors Gabe Amo as our "Person of the Year" - along with inductees, Robert Andrade, Merry Stanley Caswell, Pamela Hughes, Bill Mulholland, (the late) Lou Schwechheimer, Jr., and historical inductee Vivian Marshall - on Friday, November 1 at the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center, 172 Exchange Street Pawtucket......DEADLINE FOR TICKETS - OCTOBER 21 ! www.pawtuckethalloffame.org for info and ticket sales.
